FAITH

The Hebraic Perspective

The study of Hebrew and obtaining a sense of fluency in the underlying mindset that informs scripture will make you a better student of the Bible. Studying of the Hebrew language as it correlates with biblical context will help you better understand the Hebraic mindset in which enables you to better comprehend Hebrew concepts and literature.

You will be enlightened to the customs, struggles, memorials of feast days and understanding of Hebrew perspective.

Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of YAHAWAH, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Can we reason out the development of the planetary system, the production of trees, seas, fishes, beasts, MAN?! All manner of these things derived from nothing, matter of fact this was brought into existence by YAHAWAH’s word.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1: 6- 10

6 And YAHAWAH said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

And YAHAWAH made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

And YAHAWAH called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

And YAHAWAH said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

10 And YAHAWAH called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:21 And YAHAWAH created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:27 So YAHAWAH created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

You can go on to read Genesis chapter one in its entirety which breakdowns all abba created from nothing but his POWER. Therefore, FAITH would have to be exercised in confidence in his declarations, testimonies and creations made in truth. This is not derived from our own reasoning but trust and faith in his word. His words are what holds this world together.

1 Corinthians 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of YAHAWAH.

I speak for myself that after reading this it’s clear that my trust and faith should be unwavering in the highest. I’ve personally struggled with having FAITH for a long time. In understanding his creation of the world alone graces me with a confidence of his complete power and I’m on a path to share and delight myself in having Faith in YAHAWAH as our forefather Abraham a man of great faith and the blessings of the covenant also given to our patriarchs (Isaac and Jacob).

But firstly, there’s a deeper level of understanding that must be brought out to live and walk in faith. What I’ve just expressed does serve great importance in having faith in YAHAWAH because we know that he exists, and he can do anything he wanted too. This is basic western culture thought. In the Hebraic culture we are summoned to understand YAHAWAH’s function on a clearer scale. When he said let there be light that was law, when he created the earth that was instruction. This world is held together through the established order of his word. We cannot act outside of his will or order. Faith is an individual that functions FIRMLY in YAHAWAHs will which calls for obedience.

Romans 13: 1-2

1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of YAHAWAH : the powers that be are ordained of YAHAWAH

Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of YAHAWAH : and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

The definition of FAITH in its Hebrew context:

FAITH: ”Amanah”

Strong’s Concordance

amanah: faith, support

Original Word: אֲמָנָה

Part of Speech: Noun Feminine

Transliteration: amanah

Phonetic Spelling: (am-aw-naw’)

Short Definition: agreement, firm regulation

Faith is tangible. It’s the acting out of something you firmly believe in. It’s knowing YAHAWAH wa YAHAWASHI law, instruction, understanding order and acting it out which is proven “real faith”. It’s a commitment between You and Abba YAHAWAH.

James 2: 17-22

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

In verse 21 Abraham demonstrated that he trusted YAHAWAH completely and placed him above all else, even his son. It was necessary for Abraham to prove his faith through action.

Habakkuk 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the JUST shall live by his faith

Abraham knew that YAHAWAH had promised him offspring through Isaac, so this gave him reason not to doubt that perhaps Isaac would be brought back from death.

Hebrews 11: 17-19

17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,

18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:

19 Accounting that YAHAWAH was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

It’s like doing (works) in expectation of receiving a desirous outcome.

In order to be established and have this level of surety you’re obviously have to be built on strong foundation.

Amos 7:8 And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:

The plumbline represents the Law of Moses (Torah). It was the Law that defined Israel as a nation, and its perfect code of righteousness ensured that Israel was built in accord with the perfectly upright standard of the very righteousness of YAHAWAH. Which is still relevant.

Luke 11:28 But he said,Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of YAHAWAH , and keep it.

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments

There are many more precepts that can be provided but I wanted to highlight this to correlate the importance of Abraham, his obedience, faith. Abraham could not receive the covenantal blessings based only on faith but his obedience. What was he obedient to? What were the prerequisites?

It was YAHAWAH’s established word which is law, commandments, and statues.

In the Greek the the root word from which we get ‘faith, the noun is PISTIS, and ‘believe’, the verb is PISTUEO. FAITHPISTIS means faith, belief, firm persuasion, assurance, firm conviction, faithfulness. BELIEVE – PISTUEO – to trust in and rely upon, commit to the charge of, confide in, have a mental persuasion.

Well use a clear example of Peter walking on water.

Matthew 14: 25-31

25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

For a second Peter’s Faith was displayed through action. Instead of only believing which the greek work Pistos exemplies he acted out faith which in Hebrew is walking out faith. He proved to YAHAWASHI for a second that his faith was ensued in him and he walked on water. He became distracted and took his focus off of YAHAWAH therefore going under water. This debunks that only believing would suffice. Hebrew biblical narrative of faith is standing firm on the truth which is YAHAWAH wa YAHAWASHI whom comes in the volume of the book which we must act out an keep to display our FAITH. “The faith” right?! So what is it in a nutshell. It’s Torah which is honestly the entire Bible because the New Testament is a reflection of the Old Testament.

Brothers and sisters I implore you to read Hebrews chapter 11 which provides insight on our forefathers and foremothers whom acted out faith in obedience to YAHAWAH’s word which cannot go unnoticed. Throughout scripture it shows they were Torah keepers and understood

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

They were fastened in Torah. Their accounts being recorded within scripture is indication of their faith and obedience to YAH.

Isaiah 22:23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father’s house.

This narrative can be expounded on further but I pray this has been enlightening for you and encourages you to do your own studies.

To conclude nourish yourself in YAHAWAH’s word, follow and obey his commandments in that is trust and display of your faith to him. The faith is keeping his laws, statues and commandments and doing what he says to do. This is Emunah.

Shalom
