Strength in Scriptures- Sisters of Tamar

At the centre of the world are women. Women play pivotal roles in the family, in the community and in the world at large. When women are distraught emotionally, mentally and spiritually, the home front is affected and the society feels the impact as well. When women are in their place of strength, balanced mentally, spiritually and emotionally, the physical reality would be better, bringing peace, harmony and balance to the world they affect with their aura.

In my journey in life, I have had times when I needed help and to be healed. It is harder especially when you are trying to heal all by yourself. It is not an easy process but it is doable. You make mistakes all by yourself. You pick up yourself on days when you are weak and distraught. It is very hard. There were days I just could not go on with myself. I badly sought for all the help I could get.

The process becomes a lot easier when there is an anchor to lean on during the process. Someone to help you, to support you and to pray for you during these times. It is relieving to find a person who understands what you are going through and is willing to hold you by the hand through the steps of the way. This would lighten the burden and ease the pressure.

Ecclesiastes 4: 9 – 12; two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken

It is in times like this that you are cautious about commitments and can get scared when people come on too hard and too fast. You may seek to withdraw and shield yourself because of the image of strength and self-sufficiency you have built in and around yourself, even when these walls are caving in. Sometimes, it is harder showing your emotional side and finding ways to express yourself. But within your comfort zone, you can learn to relax and be yourself. You can learn that it is okay to cry, to be tired, to be completely uninterested in life and above all to move on and forge ahead. And that it is okay to allow others offer help to you.

Romans 12:13; share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Healing is not a one-off activity. It involves taking deliberate and conscious efforts to recover in the light of your current realities. Healing is for everyone. Healing is possible.

Sisters Of Tamar

In the journey of life, there are times that I am tempted to just throw in the towel. I ask myself whether I am strong enough, how much more do I need to do to prove myself? How much longer can I wait this time? Waiting times are more painful because your strength and predisposition alone is not sufficient to see you through. Neither is goodwill and affection from loved ones enough fuel to power your inner spirit to move on and forge ahead.

Building authentic relationships was rarely existent in some sense because of the constant movement of my family. And for those who were in my life, some of these relationships were built on a lot of giving and mimicking adapted habits from young. This is the story of everyone at different phases in life, especially women. In fact, people who move from job to job and from place to place have it harder. You would sometimes need a support system, a group or a person you can lean on to help you walk through the times. This support system would need to be constant and ever present to help you walk through the emotional or spiritual turmoil.

Galatians 6:2; carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.

Even though each one is unique in their experiences, circumstances and in their backgrounds, we are all united by the common denominator of being women. Thus, women understand women better. It is in the light of these that women are supposed to be the anchor and support system for one another. Together, we capitalise on our wealth of experience and resources and provide succor for other women who are trying to heal from difficult experiences.

Hebrews 13:16; and do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

All through a woman’s life, from birth to adulthood, to marriage and old age, there are moments that line up these different times where a woman needs all emotional, spiritual and mental support she can get. It is in times like these that the support system or group becomes important to help you sail smoothly through the stormy waters. The healing and soothing relief that this brings with it is unquantifiable.

It is when we have women who have healed that our families become healthier and stronger.

Matthew 5:16; in the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
